CQ-TV278 is absolutely crammed with interesting articles - plenty of reading to keep you busy over the Christmas holidays!
The front page news is the successful reception in the USA of Ultra Narrowband DATV signals on 29MHz from M0DTS, G0MJW and G4XAT! Inside there are articles describing the experiments, a design for a 29MHz transverter and an in-depth article from Charles G4GUO explaining the challenges of sending high-speed data (DATV signals) over HF channels.
In BATC news there is details of our new bank account (useful to know if you pay by cheque or BACs), the good news that BATC golf shirts are available again and details of a special offer for members to buy the RxGen noise source at a discounted price .
Chris PA3CRX continues his excellent series on exploring some of the mysteries of RF propagation and this time explains why the height and position of your antennas is important.
Elsewhere Richard GI4DOH describes the plans for a new Northern Ireland TV repeater and John G0ATW gives details of the SSTV receiver which has been added to GB3GG. There is a modern design for an FM ATV exciter for the 23, 13 and 6cms bands by Sjef PE5PVB and David M0YDH describes building and operating the GB8TA Wolverhampton Club station.
The printed version of CQ-TV 278, in full colour on high-quality gloss paper, is currently at the printers and will be dispatched after Christmas to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine. However, there may be some delay before you receive it due to the current UK postal strikes. If you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription?
Don't forget the Thursday evening BATC net on Oscar-100 – more details on the forum. Please join us if you have transmit capability and if not you can watch all the action on the BATC streamer: https://batc.org.uk/live/oscar100net
We would really like more feedback on CQ-TV! Do you read it from cover to cover, are the articles relevant to you or do you just file it away and never read it? Either way, please let us know what you think by posting on the BATC forum!
.
.Finally, your committee would like to thank you for supporting BATC during 2022 and we wish you a peaceful Christmas and Happy New Year.
