CQ-TV 277 is available for download

Post by g8gtz » Fri Sep 30, 2022 4:53 pm

The electronic copy of CQ-TV 277 is available for download for members on the BATC website at https://batc.org.uk/cq-tv/cq-tv-download/ . You will need to be logged in to the website to access this page. If you have not already visited the website, you will need to do a password reset before you can access the CQ-TV page - simply follow the instructions on this page https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Resetting_your_password

In this issue Martin G4FKK, our new chairman introduces himself and Dave G8GKQ, our retiring chairman says his farewells. There are also the draft minutes of the BATC general meeting held at CAT22 and a copy of the revised constitution agreed at that meeting. Dave G8GKQ has also been busy adjudicating the IARU region 1 ATV contest and publishes the results in this CQ-TV. A total of 97 stations submitted entries across 11 bands from 50MHz to 122GHz and there's also a copy of the proposed amendments to the contest rules which Dave has submitted to IARU Region 1.

Gary VK2CRJ describes a multiviewer script running on Windows for the BATC streamer and Gareth G4XAT experiments with filters and tells us about his latest successes with surplus equipment conversion on 10 and 24GHz.

Chris PA3CRX delves into the mysteries of propagation and describes some of the tools you can use to predict when the VHF and above bands will be open. Finally, Tom ZR6TG describes his networked DATV receiver enabling remote viewing on multiple devices around the home and beyond.

The printed version of CQ-TV 277, in full colour on high-quality gloss paper, is currently at the printers and will be dispatched next week to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine. If you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription?

Don't forget the Thursday evening BATC net on Oscar-100 – more details on the forum. Please join us if you have transmit capability and if not you can watch all the action on the BATC streamer: https://batc.org.uk/live/oscar100net

We would really like more feedback on CQ-TV!

Do you read it from cover to cover?

Are the articles relevant to you or do you just file it away and never read it?

Either way, please let us know what you think by posting on the BATC forum!

Regarding reading CQ-TV:
Yes, I do read it from cover to cover - and I have never failed to find articles of interest. It is a great magazine (Thanks, Frank!) and I look forward to every issue...

The batch script in my multiviewer article will not run when copy/pasted because the quotation character " has been replaced by some non basic ASCII characters in the word processing software used to produce CQ-TV. These are “ U+201c and ” U+201d instead of the ASCII ".

Dave G8GKQ has kindly set up a Wiki page which you can copy/paste at https://wiki.batc.org.uk/VK2CRJ_Multiviewer.

Thanks to Robert VK3IE in Melbourne for making me aware of this.

Thanks - that works nicely once I put the directory for ffplay in the windows path (c:\ffmpeg\bin in my case)

The stream calls need editing. So far I have gb3hv, gb3sq and gb3km plus oscar100net in my list.

Hi Martin,

The info you need is in CQ-TV, page 11, right hand column, next to bottom paragraph.

73 Dave.

In windows. select settings app, click the three bars at the top. Search for path with the little magnifying glass. Click on environment variables. There you should see path.

Thanks for all your help.

I have located Environment Variables there are two options.
User Variables and System Variables.
Which should I set?
Also to set a new variable you have the option of setting Directory or File.
What variable name should I set?

Sorry for all the questions.

Martin

Hi Martin,

You need to click on the "path" line in the list of system variables then click edit. Add a new line with the path to your ffplay.exe

I managed that bit ok but I get these error messages. I think it's related to my video settings.
