CQ-TV 272 is ready for download

Post by g8gtz » Fri Jul 02, 2021 11:31 am

The electronic copy of CQ-TV 272 is available for download on the BATC website at https://batc.org.uk/cq-tv/cq-tv-download/ . You will need to be logged in to the website to access this page. If you have not already visited the website, you will need to do a password reset before you can access the CQ-TV page - simply follow the instructions on this page https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Resetting_your_password

CQ-TV 272 is crammed full of interesting articles including a design by EA7GIB for a custom motherboard and front panel for the Portsdown / Langstone combination. Gareth G4XAT has been busy writing about how to mount a dish upside down, describing his 23cms amplifier project and his adventures on 5.7GHz and experiments with pipe cap filters.

There's news that to encourage the use of cheap and readily available FM ATV equipment that we all bought a couple of years ago, the BATC is running an operating ladder until the end of the year. It’s run on the same lines as last year’s Christmas and ‘Lockdown’ ladders. You can find details of the rules here https://wiki.batc.org.uk/2021_5.6GHz_Activity_Ladder and the Ladder scoreboard page is here: https://batc.org.uk/contests/6cm-ladder. You can register to take part and access the score entry forms from the ladder scoreboard. Good luck!

Brian G8GQS gives up an update on MCR21 which is now looking very smart in its new paint job and Chris PA3CRX describes an Arduino based video generator.

There is an update on CAT21, which we are still hoping to hold at the Coventry Air Museum on August 21st and 22nd - clearly this is dependent on government advice and common sense and we will make a final decision towards the end of this month.

There is also a notice from your committee who have decided it makes sense to postpone the General Meeting we were planning to hold on the same weekend, as it is unlikely we will have enough members attending to make the meeting quorate.

Don't forget the Thursday evening BATC net on Oscar-100 – more details on the forum. Please join us if you have transmit capability and if not you can watch all the action on the BATC streamer: https://batc.org.uk/live/oscar100net

The printed version of CQ-TV 272, in full colour on high quality gloss paper, is currently at the printers and will be dispatched by the end of next week to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine.. If you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription?

And finally, we would really like more feedback on CQ-TV! Do you read it from cover to cover, are the articles relevant to you or do you just file it away and never read it? Either way, please let us know what you think by posting on the BATC forum here.

Personally, I find the range of articles and target audiences a great mix, there always seems to be something for everybody.

Thank you for the feedback Greg - always good to know...
The variety of articles is down to the contributors. Thank you to everyone that writes an article for the magazine.
And if you have something you'd like to share with the BATC community, we'd be pleased to receive it for publication - next issue out at the end of September... deadline for articles by the 14th September please!

Best regards,
Frank, M0AEU
Editor - CQ-TV magazine for the BATC
