CQ-TV 271 is crammed full of interesting articles including details of 2 major BATC project releases:
The Knucker narrow band DVB-T project is available in time for the European Sporadic E season and we have high hopes of some real long distance DX being worked on 50MHz! The WinterHill project is an advanced multi-channel DVB-S receiver capable of receiving up to 4 channels simultaneously. Both projects have more details on the BATC wiki with PCBs and other components available in the BATC shop.
There are details on how to avoid the 15 second delay on the BATC streamer channels now that Flash is no longer available in standard web browsers and Dave G8GKQ has produced a beginners guide to building a Portsdown 4.
Brian G8GQS continues his look at the history of BBC OB vans and Chris PA3CRX shows us the easy way to make horn antennas for the microwave bands.
There is advanced notice that we are planning to hold CAT21 at the Coventry Air Museum on August 21st and 22nd - clearly this is dependent on government advice and common sense but put the date in your diary now and we look forward to seeing you either in person or on-line.
Don't forget the Thursday evening BATC net on Oscar-100 – more details on the forum. Please join us if you have transmit capability and if not you can watch all the action on the BATC streamer: https://batc.org.uk/live/oscar100net
The printed version of CQ-TV 271, in full colour on high quality gloss paper, is going to the printers tomorrow and will hopefully be dispatched before Christmas to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine.. If you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription?
And finally, we would really like more feedback on CQ-TV! Do you read it from cover to cover, are the articles relevant to you or do you just file it away and never read it? Either way, please let us know what you think by posting on the BATC forum here.
