Final call for articles - CQ-TV 268

Post by m0aeu » Tue Jun 09, 2020 11:45 am

Hello!
It's that time of the quarter again and I'm requesting any articles for publication in the next edition of CQ-TV.
Have you been out with your station portable? Built a Portsdown and you'd like to share the experience with everyone? Or perhaps you'd like to be featured in the 'My Station' feature...
Text and photographs in almost any format are very welcome... (But please, not Publisher!!!!)
Please send them through to me as soon as possible, no later than the 19th June. The next edition will be published before the end of June.
Send your artices to: editor@batc.org.uk

Many thanks,
Frank, M0AEU

CQ-TV 268 is ready for download

Post by g8gtz » Sat Jun 27, 2020 2:00 pm

The electronic copy of CQ-TV 268 is available for download by members on the BATC website at https://batc.org.uk/cq-tv/cq-tv-download/ . You will need to be logged in to the website to access this page. If you have not already visited the website, you will need to do a password reset before you can access the CQ-TV page - simply follow the instructions on this page https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Resetting_your_password

In this bumper issue you will find results of Christmas repeater and lockdown activity ladder contests plus a first glimpse of activity reports from the June IARU Region 1 contest. There's also news of the next 3 months activity days / contests - for more details see viewtopic.php?f=75&t=6713

There's an update on our CAT 20 meeting in late October which due to the COVID situation we have decided to hold on-line rather than face to face.

The Portsdown News column has details of a major new release which will run on a RPi 4 and has potential to run alongside the Langstone Microwave SDR transceiver - sounds like a really interesting development with great potential for the future.

There's an article from Chris PA3CRX on 6cm FM ATV experiments in the Netherlands and 2 articles from Jason G7KPM on using Skype for repeater inputs and a lock light design for the combo series of STB.

We include a report by Jeffrey Borinsky of the Broadcast Engineering Conservation Group on the events last November to celebrate 50 years of colour TV in the UK and Mike G8LES describes his experiences with the DATVexpress software.

Don't forget the Thursday evening BATC net on Oscar-100 – more details on the forum. Please join us if you have transmit capability and if not you can watch all the action on the BATC streamer: https://batc.org.uk/live/oscar100net

In response to requests from our members the copy available for download from the webpage is a high resolution version at approximately 28MB. If due to limited broadband speed, you need a smaller, lower resolution version, send an email to admin@batc.tv and we will send you a link to a 5MB version.

The printed version of CQ-TV 268, in full colour on high quality gloss paper, is currently at the printers and it is hoped that will be dispatched by the end of next week to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine. If you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription?

We hope you enjoy this high quality, packed issue of CQ-TV. Don't forget if you have any comments we would really love to have some feedback from you on the members forum.
