Post by g8gtz » Mon Oct 08, 2018 7:13 pm

The electronic copy of CQ-TV 261 is available for download on the BATC website at https://batc.org.uk/cq-tv/cq-tv-download/ . You will need to be logged in to the website to access this page and if you have not already visited the new website, you will need to do a password reset before you can access the CQ-TV page - simply follow the instructions on this page https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Resetting_your_password

In CQ-TV 261 you'll find a full report on CAT18 including the BATC awards. If you missed CAT18 you can catch up by downloading the presentations or watching the videos - see https://wiki.batc.org.uk/CAT_18 for more details.

There's news of a new repeater contest to held over the week after Christmas with a £50 award going to the repeater group with most contacts. And we are introducing a special focus for activity days with this month featuring the low bands (146 and 71MHz) and in March 2019 will feature the higher bands including 5.6GHz when there will be a prize for the most successful stations. Full details will be published on the forum and the contest web page.

There are 3 articles preparing for the launch of Es'hail-2, the geo-stationary satellite with a DATV transponder. When you read them you'll see why next Wednesday 10th October is significant if you live in the UK and you're trying to decide where to site your dish!

Following on from his very interesting talk at CAT18, Bernie, G4HJW, is writing a series of articles on using DATV over optical links - the first part in this issue covers the basic of getting a system up and running and in the next issue he will explore ways to get DATV over the link.

Heather M0HMO reports on the recent ATV workshop they held near Telford and there's an invitation to the follow up weekend in December. It's great to see so much local activity and to try and encourage more we are proposing to hold several regional CAT meetings next year rather than a national event - let us have your feedback via the member's forum.

We hope you enjoy this packed issue of CQ-TV and we'd love to have some feedback from you - please post here on the forum. The printed version of CQ-TV 261, on high quality gloss paper, will be dispatched in the next 10 days to those members who subscribe to the printed magazine - if you currently don't receive the printed version, why not consider upgrading when you next renew your subscription.
