This issue includes articles on DigiThin, the RB-TV plug in module for the Raspbery Pi, an add-on PCB for the DTX1 to enable RB-TV and the very latest news on the release of 70 MHz spectrum in the UK for digital experimentation.

It also includes news of the BATC awards for RB-TV achievements which will be presented during CAT15 at Finningley next September and the new June International TV contest.

Any comments and feedback on this issue along suggestions for articles in future issues are welcome.

Noel,
Many thanks for a fascinating new issue with lots of things to try. I was interested in the updates to UglyDATV, because I have been trying this over the past few days and cannot get Tutioune to lock up properly. There seem to be various versions available; can you provide the link for the latest version which you describe.
Thanks. 73 Shaun G8VPG.

Hi Shaun,

I’m not sure if this is the easiest /up to date method and hopefully Evariste or others will comment if not, but this is how I did it....

I’ve put the 2 files needed on the BATC site at http://www.batc.org.uk/cq-tv/software/index.html

Download and build the original release UglyDATV0.1.img.zip (Please don’t download it unless you need it as it is very big at 1.5 Gb and it hits our server traffic costs!) – instructions on how to run this are in CQ-TV246 page 29.

Once you have got that running, download RPiDATV.tar.gz and put it in home directory of the RPI.

Unpack it by “tar -xvf RpiDATV.tar.gz”
Then run it as follows:
cd RpiDATV

./gbmenu.sh

That should get you to the menus shown in CQ-TV.

Any problems, suggest you post in the RPiDATV topic at http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3982,

Noel,
Thanks for your help. I already had UglyDATV0.1.img.zip, which I have unzipped and used to create a boot SDHC card for the RPi. This runs OK, although there is no RPiDATV directory as stated in CQ-TV 246 and everything is in a directory called UglyDATV, which is what the screen grab actually shows. I have downloaded RPIDATV.tar.gz and copied it onto the SDHC card on my windows computer. I'm not sure if this shows the home directory in explorer. When I try unpacking it on the RPi, I get an error, no such directory or file. I'm afraid I am very unfamiliar with how to do things on the RPi.

Hi Noel,

I think CQ-TV 246 & 247 well produced, with articles very much on the nail.

Works for me, see...

Correct RPiDATV details now published here http://www.batc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic. ... t=20#p9001

Apologies for any confusion.
